Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez

The fight almost two years in the making is finally here! Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez. 14-1 vs. 15-0. Lomachenko has 10 of his 14 wins by way of KO and in three of his last four fights has looked unstoppable. This is one of the biggest and most important boxing matches in years, as it will unify the the Lightweight titles from the WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF. Whoever wins this fight will also have a strong claim for the title of “best pound-for-pound fighter in the world”

Lomachenko dominated Jorge Linares to win the WBA Super Lightweight title. He also won a unanimous decision over Jose Pedraza to win the WBO Lightweight championship, and walked through Anthony Crolla to retain both of those titles. However, his most recent fight against Luke Campbell, which was almost a year ago, seemed different. He did what he needed to do to win the fight, but it did not look like his previous fights. He picked his spots to score and clearly won the fight, but it left some wanting more and even some questioning the man they call “No-mas-chenko”.

Teofimo Lopez, the young 23 year old, absolutely destroyed Richard Commey to win the IBF Lightweight title. He won in the second round with a TKO, and has 12 of his 15 wins by KO. This young man is ready to knock anyone out in order to become the best in the world. Listening to the opening broadcast on ESPN a few moments ago, they explained that Lopez will actually enter the ring above weight, which may provide him with an advantage.

Lomachenko is 32 years old, and granted that is not old in boxing, as we have seen many fighters go into their 40s, he does have something to show in this fight. This will not be a fight where he can rack up points and play it safe. Lopez will come out fast and furious. That may hurt him for one round, but once he is settled, Lopez will be tactical and aggressive and not allow Loma to keep his distance.

I can see Lomachenko winning this fight, but I am going with Teofimo Lopez to win this fight and become the new undisputed lightweight champion of the world (imagine that coming from Bruce Buffer)! As I conclude this article, this is obviously a Sports betting website and it would not be complete without the official decision to place $5 on Lopez to win this evening. He is quite the underdog at +330 according to William Hill, while Lomachenko is at -420. The final thing that makes this fight interesting to bet, is that the odds for Lopez have actually improved today, which means a lot of money has come in from people picking Lopez. As usual, does Vegas know something that we all don’t? Always

Good luck on your bets this evening!!
