Some thought we would never see this day. COVID-19 has proven to be problematic for Major League Baseball, and we have finally made it to the sport’s premier event: The World Series. This year, the Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a battle of the two cities that literally just won sports championships (see NBA and NHL). The two power house number one seed teams will duke it out for the right to be named The COVID-Asterisk Champion. Game 1 will showcase two of the greatest arms in baseball, Tyler Glasnow for the Rays and Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers.
The Rays are underdogs in this game, being set at +150. Now, I consider myself to be an avid baseball guy, having played, coached, and studied the sport my entire life. I have seen the likes of Madison Bumgarner dominate, and I have seen Stephen Strasburg do the same this past season. I have also seen Clayton Kershaw post a 5.40 ERA in the two World Series he has pitched in before this one. The home runs spike in his World Series starts, and Tampa Bay just so happens to have the most home runs in the postseason this season, making the recipe for another Kershaw implosion tonight.
Clayton may have something to prove in his age 32 season, I just don’t see that coming to fruition tonight. Bet the Rays ML.
