Six weeks ago, Andy and I made a bet on our Bet Bath & Beyond podcast concerning the Ravens. I, being a diehard fan and cocky asshole, boasted that the Ravens were the best team in the NFL (I still very much believe that). Andy, being a devil’s advocate douche, bet me that the Ravens wouldn’t win the next 5 games on their schedule. Loser would have to shotgun a beer first thing in the morning . Given that the Chiefs were the first game in that lineup (and the Chiefs are the Ravens’ kryptonite), we settled with 4 wins being the deciding total. All the Ravens had to do was win 4 out their next 5 games and Andy would shotgun beer for breakfast. Ravens don’t win at least 4 games? I’m the lucky loser.
I knew it was going to come down to the Steelers. It would’ve been too easy for the Ravens to beat the Chiefs, we’ll save that win for the playoffs. Here’s the breakdown of the Ravens’ schedule since the bet was made:
Week 3: vs Chiefs Loss (GROSS!)
Week 4: Washington Football Team Win (thanks for making me type your full name out R-words)
Week 5: vs Bengals Win (basically a shutout)
Week 6: at Eagles Win (I knew the Eagles weren’t getting that 2 point conversion)
Week 7: BYE
Week 8: vs Steelers
Now, I don’t want to jinx us or anything, BUT the Ravens have been incredible off their bye weeks. In fact, over the last 18 seasons, no team has done better than the Ravens. We are 15-3 coming out of regular season bye weeks since 2002 and 10-2 since 2008, the year John Harbaugh became head coach. Also under Harbaugh, the Ravens have posted a WHOPPING 36-13 record in the month of November. And yeah, in case you were wondering, that’s the best in the NFL. SO BRING IT ON ANDY! I’m not betting against the Ravens (-4) vs the Steelers and neither should you. It’s backed by stats and science and shit.
God I hope I didn’t just jinx the Ravens. ALL I DID WAS POST STATS! That’s not jinx worthy! The Harbaugh photo might’ve been too much… eh I think we’re good.
