March Madness 2021: Womens Sweet Sixteen (Day 2)

Well it finally happened, the Aggies play finally cost them and Arizona busted my bracket. Still, there is a chance to get Maryland in the final as I picked and these games will be fantastic as we have a number of new teams making the Elite 8, including that same Arizona team for the first time ever. Let’s see if Sunday will provide any upsets!

Georgia Tech vs. South Carolina

The potential is there for upsets, but this is not one of them. South Carolina is one of the best teams in the country. While somewhat young, the Gamecocks rebound better, shoot better, and create more turnovers. I see South Carolina winning this game and covering the -11 spread from William Hill.

Missouri State vs. Stanford

Stanford is the #1 overall seed in the tournament. While they have not been tested too much this year, they have taken care of business, and they will again in this matchup. Missouri St. has had a great year, but the talent gap is too great to overcome. The Cardinal enter as -15.5 point favorites and they will cover that as well.

Oregon vs. Louisville

The game where an upset could happen. You would not think it, and I certainly did not, but Vegas seems to know something I don’t as the spread is -1.5 in favor of the Ducks in a shocker. Statistically, these teams are quite even and the Ducks shoot better from 3. Sedona Prince is good, but this team is young and I do believe that lack of experience will show itself in this matchup. They have struggled against the cream of the crop this year, albeit playing tough in those games. Louisville is more experienced and seemingly forgotten among the top teams as they have stumbled at the top of the mountain. Overall, I do not see them stumbling here. The recency bias will end and Louisville wins and covers the spread. This will be one of the best games of the day hands down.

Texas vs. Maryland

In the final Sweet 16 matchup, the Terps march into this matchup as -13 point favorites and looking to get back to the mountain top. While Texas had a nice win to get here over UCLA, this will be the end of the line for the Longhorns. They are a young team going up against a team that has a great chance to win the National Championship. I do not see any close call for the Terps in this one.

One potential upset, but mostly chalk is expected today. The Women’s Tournament is going to be nearing its end by the end of next week and these final games are going to be fantastic! The parody in the women’s game makes it more enjoyable and entertaining instead of Connecticut winning it year after year as it was in years past.

Let us know how your bracket is doing and good luck betting!
